Most production companies are founded by producers, directors, or someone who once won a local film festival.
Lightspan, on the other hand, was founded by...
a doctor and a lawyer from Michigan (lawyer now in greener LA pastures) who used to be dorm mates in East Lansing.
For over a decade, we've been writing, inventing, and world-building-- long before we realized we should be doing it professionally. Now we're releasing our debut project Braving the Night and finally unleasing the rest of the stories we've been hiding in our shared Google Drive since the Obama Years.​​​
We also happen to have six kids between us, which means we take children's content seriously. If it doesn't entertain them, it's probably not ready for the world.​
Lightspan specializes in original IP--animation, kids' storytelling, and anything with heart, humor and imagination. And when we're not building our own universes, we love helping others bring their ideas to life. Whether you're developing a children's series, a short, or something totally unexpected, we turn your concept into a fully realized creative vision.​

Writer. Dad. Producer. Executive Producer. Doctor. When your story needs heart, counter-logic to Joshua's logic, and scientific precision, Dan's your guy. Always. Never an off night. Or day. Or morning. Or that time that's not quite day or night but it's close to night. What do we call that? Dusk? Disregard. I went off topic. We won't do that for your concept. We promise!
